nearly falls over
woah are you okay?
yeah, I just got up too quickly and started to black out.
that’s weird
…
struggling with maths homework
you know you’re really smart. you just need to apply yourself more.
I’m trying. I don’t know why I keep forgetting. plus this is so boring I want to cry.
that’s weird
…
unable to turn my head
are you okay?
ugh, my neck just went out.
what did you do?
nothing.
that’s weird
…
squinting
hey can you turn off the light?
why?
I’ve got a bad headache and the light’s hurting my eyes.
that’s weird
…
covered in a rash
omg I just woke up covered in hives.
try taking an antihistamine.
I did, it made it way worse.
that’s weird.
sometime in the future
you have ADHD.
that explains a lot.
so we’ll also schedule some tests for migraine, POTS, hypermobility/Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.
why?
it’s really common for people with ADHD to have co-occurring issues.
that’s weird.
not really. neurodivergent brains have neurodivergent bodies. oh, and here’s a referral for trauma counselling.
amazing. thank you.
my whole life I’ve had random medical issues. sometimes the symptoms were intermittent. sometimes recurring. sometimes seemingly out of nowhere. but honestly? all of them seemed so bizarre.
in fact, an ex once said to me “it’s always something with you”. he said it intending to be cruel. but also, he wasn’t wrong.
it’s taken decades to be correctly diagnosed. but migraine, POTS, MCAS, hypermobility, ADHD? they’re all connected.
and hopefully, one day, if you’re diagnosed with one you’ll be screened for another.
because, and say it with me…
neurodivergent brains have neurodivergent bodies
“Certain tracks help me focus while I work and other tracks help me fall asleep when my brain won’t shut up. I wish everyone knew how good this app is.” ~ Jessie
The Restful app is a library of meditones® to help you feel calm and restful without having to do a thing. Made by & for neurodivergents!
You have put into words something that’s giving me a visceral reaction. I haven’t gone down the diagnosis route but since caring for myself “as if” I’m neurodivergent, my experience has radically improved. Weird! 🩷💜🌻
